    May 01, 2019 3 min read

Relish Guitars are ground breaking instruments.  They were dreamt  up over 7 years ago by the two founders of Relish Guitars, Silvan Kung and Pirman Giger.  Silvan and Pirmin were boyhood friends that both shared a deep love of music which eventually turned into, more specifically, a passion for guitar.  They eventually began playing guitar together, writing songs and jamming.  In their  early 20's Pirmin had successfully acquired his apprenticeship in Carpentry and then later went on to get his degree in Industrial Design.  Silvan had gone on to become a very accomplished business man with a knack for Marketing and Sales.  As time had gone by their love of guitars continued to grow, as did discussions about starting up a very unique company.  Then it was born, Relish Guitars.  For the next 3 years they spent painstaking hours refining many different prototypes and perfecting the guitar that eventually became named "Jane".  Both Pirimin and Silvan being of Swiss decent, the culture of perfection and precision was very much a part of their DNA.  This is quite apparent when examining one of their guitars.  The lines, the contours, the sheer excellence  with which these guitar are built is quite remarkable.  In todays climate of high end "boutique" guitars, a well made instrument doesn't alway guarantee a successful business plan.  The Boutique Guitar market is more fierce and competitive than ever.  Guitar lovers and collectors have a vast array of choices with both acoustic and electric guitars.  And it's not easy to edge into this market, especially for a newcomer.  Silvan and Pirmin pressed on with a vision of total innovation, a guitar that no one had seen before.  Jane was just that.  A "sandwich" style construction that pressed 2 highly pressurized wood veneers into a milled aluminum core that would not only create a unique hollow bodied sound, but would also create a resonance that endured far longer than many of the classic guitars on the market.  From a tonal standpoint, the aluminum core also gave the guitar a decidedly clear and bright finish almost like that of an acoustic guitar.    Relish Guitars opened to rave reviews.  The comments:  "A Revelation", "A Tone Monster", and my favorite, "Down right sexy as hell".  As soon as you get the guitar in your hands, you know you are holding something that was loved and cared for.  Like a Rolex watch, you will not find a flaw on this instrument.  Front to back and top to bottom this guitar is simply stunning.  Then, once you get her warmed up through a nice tube amp, you are in for a treat!  Guitar players love to be inspired by their instruments.  As U2 guitarist the Edge insists, "Every Guitar has Songs in it".  Well you can be assured, these Jane Guitars will bring a waterfall of inspiration with each time you plug her in. With the roaring success of the Relish Jane came the advent of the Mary Guitar.  Silvan and Pirmin's second effort was about as good as their first!  The team wanted to come up with a more traditional rock guitar, but with the same innovation and inspiration as their first Jane model.  Mary is a 3 piece wooden sandwich construction electric guitar  with a bit more of a heavier, darker tone.  Perfect for Rock n Roll.  With the 3 pieces of wood layered together, they are sill slightly separated by magnets surrounded by soft rubber "rings" allowing each piece of wood to vibrate independently of each other creating a trifecta of tone that the 3 individual layers contribute to one completely original sound.  Yes, it sounds complicated but the finished product is simply breathtaking!
