  • The Limited Edition Bushmills X Lowden Guitars

    December 07, 2014 2 min read

Ireland has always been known for the export of two things: great whiskey and great music. This newest guitar combines the two in a breathtakingly beautiful and unique line of instruments. Two great Northern Irish Companies with ironclad reputations, Lowden Guitars and Bushmills Distillery, have come together to create the Limited Edition Bushmills X Lowden Guitars.

    The Guitar

The Limited Edition Bushmills by Lowden Guitars is based off of George Lowden's renowned F50 model. All of the appointments are done with former Bushmills whiskey barrels. On the back of the guitar is a inlay that features a cooper's hammer and a luthier's chisel, as well as two staves. The guitar's back and sides are made with Ancient Bog Oak. The top is made of Reclaimed Sinker Redwood. The guitar also features a soundbox bevel, and a rosewood bridge. The Limited Edition Bushmills X Lowden Guitars also has all the standard quality and features that the Lowden 50 series is known for. The guitar possesses a unique voice that embodies the best of the F body style's signature versatile sound, but with a wholly new character from the Ancient Bog Oak back and sides. Each guitar will be sold with a handmade display box containing a bottle of Bushmills Whiskey, Sinker Redwood coasters, and Custom wood guitar picks by Lowden.

    The Legacy

However this series of custom guitars represents more than just great guitars. The inlay on the back says it all. It is meant to represent the passing of knowledge from each generation to the next. George Lowden has been making guitars since the 1970's. He now works with his children, passing on the knowledge he has learned unto them to continue his legacy of a commitment to great sounding, and astoundingly beautiful guitars. They worked together for over 40 hours to design and build the first of these guitars. Bushmills is the oldest licensed distillery in Ireland. The Kane family has been working at the distillery coopering barrels for four generations. They have been passing their knowledge down each time too continue the legacy of craftsmanship and quality that goes into every bottle of Bushmills Whiskey.
