  • Santa Cruz OOO Fort Ross Chapel Redwood / Upgraded Quilted Mahogany #6184

    $11,499.00

The Santa Cruz Guitar Company OOO is the 12-fret predecessor to the OM. The OOO adds some distinct features, both mechanically and cosmetically. The extension of the body to the 12th fret adds additional airspace, which translates into increased sound volume and a more predominant bass in the EQ. The slotted peghead is a standard feature that adds a classic style. The peghead’s reduced mass accentuates the guitar’s open, airy ambience, making it a fingerstyle favorite. You’ve seen the SCGC OOO on stage with Jeff Tweedy and Dave Matthews as a solid performing songwriter’s tool. It has also been heard on numerous recordings as a mainstay of pro session players. You will find an immediate purpose for the OOO and wonder why you didn’t have it in your arsenal all along.

This OOO bears a special Redwood top, reclaimed from Fort Ross in Sonoma County, California. Established by the Russian-American Company in 1812, it served as a hub for fur trading and agricultural activities, primarily focused on growing crops and producing goods for the Russian settlements in Alaska. The Chapel, built circa 1824, was constructed entirely of old growth Redwood planks. After the decline of the fur trade in the mid-19th century, Fort Ross changed hands several times before becoming a state historic park in 1906. During the San Francisco Earthquake in 1906, the Chapel of Fort Ross collapsed, and was reconstructed in 1916, with much of the structural woodwork intact. However, 54 years later in 1970, the chapel was destroyed by an accidental fire. When another reconstruction period began on the chapel, a selection of the Redwood beams were found intact and extracted from the site, to eventually be acquired by Mr. Richard Hoover a few years ago.

Sporting this special Fort Ross Chapel Redwood top over an extremely unique Quilted Mahogany and a host of upgraded Koa appointments for the full binding, this guitar looks just as beautiful as it sounds. With a well balanced tonal spectrum and an extremely playable design, this OOO is ready to become your new on and offstage partner.
