With an Alpine Spruce over Hawaiian Koa back and sides, this special nylon string guitar provides the ultimate in clarity and balance. Designed so that it would feel very comfortable for classical and steel string players alike. The neck has enough width to accommodate the nylon strings but at the same time the cambered fingerboard allows for a wide variety of playing styles. The Lowden Jazz is fitted with an onboard pickup as standard. The soundbox is voiced for a really great acoustic response, and at the same time stiff enough to prevent the whole guitar from overreacting when played loud through a sound system. 

"In general terms, when you use Spruce for a top, I expect the guitar to take some time to loosen up and mature. In fact, if the guitar is too 'exciting' at the beginning, I might have concerns about how the guitar was going to mature because our goal is to make guitars that sound increasingly better over the course of its lifetime. The Koa we are using on our Original Series has a very warm sound. Indian Rosewood gives you that rich bass tone, which is one of the reasons why Indian Rosewood is so popular, but for somebody that might want a tone where the upper mid range is more prominent, Koa is preferable. The important thing is to give the Spruce time to break in. Even six months of playing will make a big difference in tone."
