George Lowden’s ever popular Jazz Series has just added the “23” version to the Jazz range. With a Western Red Cedar soundboard and a stunning Walnut back and sides, this wood combo is absolutely perfect for a nylon stringed instrument. Cedar is warm and rich, while Walnut is extremely clear, articulate and bright.
Designed so that it would feel very comfortable for classical and steel string players alike. The neck has enough width to facilitate the nylon strings but at the same time the cambered fingerboard allows for a wide variety of playing styles. The Lowden Jazz is fitted with an onboard pickup as standard. The soundbox is voiced for a really great acoustic response, and at the same time stiff enough to prevent the whole guitar from overreacting when played loud through a sound system.
"If you want a guitar with incredible definition, you can't really look any further than a really good grade of Claro or Bastogne Walnut. Walnut is articulate. It's very clear and defined which means there's good tone separation and you don't have so many overtones. That makes Walnut very good for recording especially. Walnut works very well with Cedar because it gives a very clear, crystalline tone which the Cedar warms up."
