The McPherson MG 4.5 is an absolute powerhouse of sound, fully complimented by the pairing of Sitka Spruce with Pomelle Sapele back and sides. The brilliant overtones of the Sitka are perfectly tempered by the rich warmth of the Pomelle Sapele, leading to a silky, warm tone across this guitar's tonal spectrum.
Sapele is a tonewood that hails from West Africa, with a timbre reminiscent of Mahogany that adds a bit of extra brightness due to the hardness of the wood. "Pomelle" indicates the quilted pattern of the Sapele, which is strikingly gorgeous on this particular model.
The subtle design elements of McPherson Guitars are fully on display with the MG 4.5. Equipped with McPherson’s signature offset soundhole and cantilevered fingerboard, the soundboard is allowed to resonate freely without the impedance of the neck directly touching the top wood. Additionally, the MG 4.5 boasts an incredibly well-balanced tonal spectrum; low frequencies are deep and resonant, high frequencies are responsive, clear, and bright, and mid-range frequencies are subtle and unobtrusive.
