  • The Lowden Sheeran Model from NAMM 2019 Order Now!

    July 06, 2019 3 min read

Just before NAMM 2019's official start time, Lowden Guitars has made a big announcement along side a huge name in the music industry.

It's no secret that Ed Sheeran has been a long time fan of Lowden Guitars, but his involvement up until now has merely been supportive.  Sitting alongside George Lowden, Ed Sheeran helps announce a brand new, collaborative line of guitars, simply called "Sheeran."  The line is aimed at both the younger and introductory player who seek a quality instrument, yet have a limited budget.

Sheeran says, "There are fewer guitar bands and fewer artists using guitars now, and not as many kids picking up guitars.  That is something I would like to change by getting these great quality guitars, made in Ireland, into kids’ hands and encouraging them to learn and progress. To be able to work in tandem with a guitar company like Lowden to create a whole different concept has been a really cool experience.”

Lowden's dedication to the cause of helping instruments get into the hands of the younger play as they explain, "[We] have a remarkable 45 year history since George Lowden started making guitars in earnest in 1974.  Sixteen years ago, George had the idea to make a guitar which would be accessible to younger players and build is in Ireland where the Lowden guitars are built.  This had to wait while he set up his new workshops in County Down.  From these workshops a dedicated team of craftspeople have been painstakingly hand-making the Lowden range of high end acoustic and electric guitars, designed by George and under his supervision, for a growing international market.  The company has expanded slowly in order to preserve the quality for which they are recognized and demand always exceeds supply.  Sheeran Guitars by Lowden represents the next step for George in what has been over four decades of listening to players [and] working together with them to provide the very vest possible instruments for them.  The same respect for the player is shared by Ed Sheeran and together we want to help inspire the next generation of musicians."

You will see the Lowden Sheeran guitar for sale available in 8 different varieties stemming from both the Wee Lowden and Concert series body styles.  The Sheeran guitar will feature one piece Mahogany necks, ebony fretboards, and a collection of great tone woods including Cedar, Figured Walnut, Sitka Spruce and Santos Rosewood.  Aside from the two entry models (S-01 and W-01), the line will also include the LR Baggs Element VTC Pickup Systems.

With the very first Wee Lowden having been a custom creation made as a gift from George Lowden himself to Ed Sheeran, it's no wonder their friendship has developed as it has.  Keep an eye out for Heartbreaker Guitars on Facebook as they give you live updates from NAMM 2019 and their studio in Las Vegas.  You'll see the Lowden S1 for sale as well as the Lowden Sheeran W1 for sale as early as March!  Contact Heartbreaker Guitars for pre-order information or simply Click Below to reserve your Lowden Sheeran Now!
